morning fishing at timothy lake, mt. hood national forest
after some mid-morning fishing at timothy lake (we caught 1 but he slipped away before we got the photo), we set up camp at little crater lake campground a few miles away. greg & stacie (our friends who are a bride & groom –to-be) reserved sites at the campgrounds for an overnight reception. they are originally from the east coast, and while the wedding will take place in vermont, this was their way of celebrating with us oregon folk. no better way to celebrate than with a campfire!
rocco was one of nine canine guests. (dog ratio 2:1) he was also the least likely to enjoy the camping experience, but he was a trooper. by eight o’clock we was hiding under a blanket in someone’s camp chair and didn’t come out until we went to our tent to sleep.
at each site, greg and stacie left wedding favors at each site: a carved branch with the makings of a fabulous smore.
with mt. hood peeking over the trees, a quick trail takes you away from the campground through a gorgeous meadow to little crater lake (named after the famous crater lake in southern oregon.) i saw crater lake with amy a few years ago, but dan still has to see it. little crater lake is his teeny tiny preview. it’s small but it packs a punch!
