the tree came down today and we also tag-teamed finally cleaning the giant mess that accumulated over the past two weeks. having two long weekends together was wonderful but especially lazy and messy.
losing the tree was bad news for hobbes, who enjoyed hiding behind the foliage, but he got a giant pet bed for christmas and now spends every waking second blissfully curled up in the middle of it. rocco also scored a pet bed (the original bed was for him but hobbes liked it so much i got another one.) as well as a kennel and a seat belt harness. it is an enormous understatement to say that rocco needs to brush up on his behavioral skills. more about that another time.
we did pretty good for christmas gifts this year. we kept it super small, but still had fun. for family and a few close friends, we delivered homemade caramel corn, pecan tarts, and turtles. and gift cards. god bless gift cards. :) i gave dan new golf shoes, a deschutes brewery golf towel, a ninkasi brewery hoodie, and santa put a pack holy smoke coffee from sisters coffee company in his stocking for christmas morning. i lucked out BIG time. hubby got me an ipod nano so i can listen to music while working out at the gym, a beautiful calendar for my office at work, and some magazines and munchies. :)
i had the most fun sending gifts to the nef and his lil sis. first i sent a package for them to open december 1st, that had an advent calendar, christmas sweaters, ornaments, and a christmas book (dream snow by eric carle) and dan and i made a recording of us reading the book to them, complete with a ringing bell when they need to turn a page. for christmas eve, we sent more gifts; books, baby moccasins and a cute outfit for spring for lexi, and an oregon beavers jersey for logan.
christmas cards were sent on time this year, with what, i think, is my favorite of our photo strips. i printed an extra one for our fridge and every time i look at it i smile. we sure did have a lot of fun in 2010. and there are already many plans in the works for this year. i have a lot of traveling, home improvement projects, and beaucoup de herzing luv to write about and share photos of this year.
