we are plowing through season 1 of "the united states of tara"(showtime). unique story, killer actors, smart writing, and created, written, and co-produced by diablo cody, screenwriter for juno and amanda's body. [dan and "diablo" both hail from lemont. so dan officially knows someone who works directly with steven spielberg. sweet.] it's not for the faint of heart as far as language and sexual content goes, but it is like a kids show compared to the last series that we finished, californication. it's along the lines of weeds, minus the drugs and plus the multiple personality disorder.
our love for this has softened the blow of not only the season finales of our favorite shows (modern family, especially!), but also the series finale of lost. i can not emphasize enough: if you have never watched it, and miraculously did NOT hear how it ended, start with season 1 and go, go, go! it's totally worth the hours you'll spend in front of the tv/computer.
also currently watching:
- top chef (we don't have bravo so we watch it at the gym or use comcast on demand
- so you think you can dance (i don't think we've missed a season of this yet. despite the surface kitsch, there are some amazing athletes and some moments of great art.)
- my indulgent e favorites that i tape and watch on my lunch break or while dan is cooking dinner; kendra, kloe & kourtney take miami, and chelsea handler
- friday night lights (i'm more into this than dan...)
- daily show, colbert, sunny in phildelphia (more dan's style)
looking forward to:
- true blood, season 2 on dvd next week!
- mad men, season 4 premiering july 25th! mark your calendars!
- and starting our first season of dexter, highly recommended by friends. we'll see. last time we got huge recommendations it was for the l word, which bored us to tears.
